Western Equipment Shop, Saipan
The Former Western Equipment Heavy Equipment Shop in Lower Base has been abandoned by the company since 2004. The site has been contaminated with release of petroleum products, mainly used oil. Also left in place is a large warehouse garage building.
August 2007, A Phase I ESA was conducted at the site and the following RECs were found: Four stockpiles of leaking 55-gallon and two 5,000 AET drums and associated tar pools (160 drums total), and three abandoned automobiles and associated chemicals. Further investigation of the environmental condition at the subject property is warranted.
