Concorde Garment Warehouse
The site is owned by the Department of Public Lands (DPL). The site was once known as Kim’s Auto Shop. At the auto shop, they conducted vehicle repairs, maintenance, painting, and inspections. After Kim’s Auto Shop vacated the property, it was then leased to the Concorde Garment facility. Concorde Garment utilized the site as a storage facility.
Upon inspection by Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) in January of 2006, DEQ staff discovered that several drums of Trichloroethylene (TCE) were improperly stored onsite. DEQ staff also recognized that the drums were deteriorating due to improper storage conditions and may have potentially leaked into the ground surface. DEQ ordered that DPL and Concorde sample the site citing the CNMI Harmful Substance Cleanup Regulations.
The sampling was conducted in January of 2009. The results have shown that the contamination were below the CNMI Pacific Basin Environmental Screening Levels (PBESL).
